The LI-2 packs six lighting modes into one headlamp — three on its spotlight and three on its floodlight — and picking the right one matters more than it sounds, since brightness and runtime move in opposite directions on every mode.
Spotlight is the LI-2's focused beam, rated over 260 lumens at maximum, and it's the one to reach for when you need to see something specific at a distance rather than light up everything around you.
Floodlight is the LI-2's wide beam, rated over 320 lumens at maximum, better suited to general area awareness — walking, working at close range with peripheral visibility, or lighting a small work area rather than one specific point.
The LI-2 recalls whichever of its 6 modes was active when it was last switched off, so it powers back on exactly where you left it rather than defaulting to one fixed setting every time. If Floodlight Low was your last mode, that's what you get next time you switch it on.
As a rule of thumb: spotlight for anything requiring focus or distance, floodlight for anything requiring peripheral awareness or general coverage; High modes for short, demanding tasks, Low and Ultra-long modes for anything that needs to last a full shift or longer.
